It took a year, but finally “a sense of wonder” is born!
I’ve known for a long time that there was another mandala deck to be born into the family, and here it is.
I guess you could say it is the next step in the evolution or journey of the decks. It feels like it somehow goes deeper, at least for me.
There are 30 cards in this deck, and the mandala styles encompass quite a variety of styles and techniques.
During the better part of 2025, I “played” with this deck, it was tough to nail down the mandalas. One day I would love what I had chosen, the next I would take three out. The day after that, I would put two back.
Yes, it went on like that for a very long time. And then it settled down. That’s when the words came around. First the phrase “I have come to” dropped in, this seems to offer a multitude of meanings,
depending on how you read it with the “feature” word.
Then I made a list of words that seems to fit the idea of “a sense of wonder”. That list came out to 60+ words, and I only needed 30. Hmmmm … more tug and pull … more negotiation with the mandalas and myself.
Finally the words settled in with the mandalas, and then I reached out to a few trusted friends, and had them give me their reaction. I am delighted to say, they saw what I was seeing. They felt the depth of these little cards. The support, the rightness for this time. They connected to it the way I was connecting. And with their wisdom, I made a few minor tweaks, and off it went!
I am very excited about this deck. It is a larger size than previous decks,
a generous 3″ x 4.75″ and it feels very lovely in your hands.
It seems that unlike the other decks, that gravitated to pulling multiple cards and putting them on a stand, this deck wants to focus on a single card for display.
Yes, it comes with a wooden display rack to hold one card.
There are many places this deck will take you … and support the journey, whatever it is.
This feels like a very proud moment for me …
like a parent whose child is destined to go into the world to do good!

Creating this new deck is my way to have made some sense of the state of the world.
It was when I was feeling very low and disconnected from myself … I realized I had lost my sense of wonder!
And I thought, well if I had lost mine, other people must be feeling somewhat the same.
So, this deck is my way to bring us all back to our beautiful, creative and wonderful selves, one day at a time.
I am appreciating having a sense of wonder each morning when I choose a card, or a card chooses me. And then there all the “new” artistic approaches you took to the mandalas. We’ll need another blog about that! Congratulations on this newly created treasure and your soul-filled artistry in the world.
Thank you my dear Mary Ann … and what a great idea to do another blog on the approaches to these new mandalas! The ideas are percolating!!
It is so beautiful and timely, Sarah! You’ve given us another amazing open door to our inner house. I can’t wait to touch it and play with it. The variety of mandala techniques and the depth of colour is gorgeous.
Congratulations on another wonderful delivery!
Oh Simone … your line “another amazing door to our inner house” is simply fabulous … may I steal it?
Thank you for your love and support in getting this deck into the world, you will have it in your hands very soon! ~s
Can’t wait to get my own deck of your new cards, Sarah.
I shall have one waiting for you my dear!!
Hi, Sarah! Happy to report my *A Sense of Wonder* mandalas deck arrived midweek, the same day my friend received the one I gifted her! It is exquisite. As ever, the packaging itself is lovely too.
You’re right, these 30 cards feel at home in my hands. Whether held, intuitively cut, or perused card by card, they almost sparkle with the creative energy of your development of them. The unique beauty of each design is enthralling, and when I leaf through the deck, each one’s distinctive ‘personality’ feels like a hypertext link ready to lead me through a portal of discovery.
As my eager excitement quieted, I was ready for whichever one wished to be first up. ‘Balance!’ Perfect fit to address a current challenge as if with encouragement, transmitting confidence that all will be well. Its effect lingered till this weekend proved it true.
Then the deck beckoned again. This time, the drawn card took me aback, a challenge in itself! I resisted, then curiously pondered …. Left to steep, within minutes my brain fog dissolved: “Hey, relax! Earlierthis morning, I’d already take a step to confirm what it invites me to risk! This is reassurrance … and mighty welcome too.”
And so it will go thus, whenever the nudge to choose a new card lands. Like a reliably blunt yet tender Good Buddy (with knockout good looks), *A Sense of Wonder* is a friendly deck. It’s perceptive and honest, ready to be responsive and to inspire responsiveness in me too.
Thank you, dear Sarah, for bringing it to us with your inspired care, deep heart, insight, and artistry. I cherish it.
xxoo – kwp ☺️
Thank you so much Kitty … I am so grateful for the care and depth of your view. You have my full gratitude! ~s
