in my mind
things that inform, intrigue and inspire me
Understanding the importance of connection
Sometimes I feel as slow to emerge as this spring has been. Yet I know that all things emerge in their proper time and way. I must be patient and just keep showing up. This is the best thing for me to do!
One third through a year of constant change …
There are so many changes … seasons, locations, world, personal … and it is important to recognize and honour them all, even in some small way!
Same and yet completely different
Finding joy in colouring on black paper is hard to describe. It’s as if I have discovered a previously undiscovered land.
New uses for common art tools
In all the years I have been a graphic designer, and even before that, as a child who doodled on everything, I don’t think I have ever drawn on windows. Well, I have now, and it’s quite a lot of fun. This drawing on the window however, started out as purely practical.
Every day, another level of shift happens
This spring is different in so many ways … there is the natural shift that happens as things emerge, and there is all the unexpected life shifts that seem to be happening as part of the larger picture of our times. All fascinating, and all need to be recognized for their importance and impact in our lives!
Finding our way back …
Just as the plants are finding their way back to life, we are finding our way back to connecting, in person, with real people. Turns out it’s kinda funny … if you look at it that way. It’s as if we are new to this planet and getting to know the local customs and ways. It will get easier I’m sure, but right now, it can feel all a bit awkward.
Observation
Every day brings a new introduction to something in our new home. This is one of our new neighbours. We also have an unbelievable number of birds that come at various times of the day. Getting used to life in the country is certainly new, but we are enjoying it tremendously!
“I’ve weathered some storms”
At first I thought the name of the mandala seemed a bit sad, “I’ve weathered some storms” … but then I realized it was a hopeful message. It was telling me that I have been through stuff before, and I can get through stuff again. So, I would like to honour everyone for the storms they have weathered, and the ones that we might meet in the future. We can do this!
A whole new chapter is beginning
A whole new beginning in a whole new space. A different area of the city I have called home for 17 years …. so much new … and all happening in the spring. WOW! I am feeling very grateful to have landed in this new space, and as I ponder what will unfold, I will ground myself here, and in the larger world too!
I surrender to what is
As the shifts and changes continue in my world, I am finding new ways to navigate the ever-shifting landscape. Good friends, good writers, pen and paper, and lots of inspiration from everywhere around me!
